The September 21, 2022, meeting will include a presentation by Erica Lord and Karin Prangley, on the topic "Cryptocurrency: What You Need to Know!". 

Erica Lord

As Chief Fiduciary Officer at BNY Mellon Wealth Management, Erica Lord is responsible for the oversight of fiduciary relationships and the delivery of fiduciary services globally.

Previously, Erica held a variety of roles at The Northern Trust Company, including serving as Chief Fiduciary Officer of Northern Trust's Global Family & Private Investment Offices segment and The Northern Trust Company of Delaware. She also served in Northern Trust's Legal Department as Assistant General Counsel on the Trust Counsel Legal team, advising Northern Trust’s Wealth Management business nationally. On joining Northern Trust in 2010, she served as a Senior Trust Advisor, administering large, complex, multi-generational trusts for which Northern Trust serves as trustee and works with ultra-high net worth clients and their advisors to deliver timely and relevant wealth management advice and comprehensive wealth management solutions.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Erica practiced privately at two large, international law firms in Chicago, focusing primarily on estate planning for family business owners, estate administration, and fiduciary litigation.

Erica is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Estate Planning Council.

Karin Prangley

Karin has spent her entire career advising successful business owners on the preservation of wealth. While each of her clients has a unique objective that she helps fulfil, Karin’s particular expertise ranges from (i) saving income and estate taxes on the sale of a business, to (ii) assisting clients with the achievement of their philanthropic goals, to (iii) preparing the next generation to inherit liquid wealth or a going-concern family business. Karin provides family-office level service to each of her approximately 80 clients in the West and Midwest from the Chicago Private Banking and Investment Advisory office of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. 

Prior to joining Brown Brothers in 2014, Karin was a partner in the tax and estates group of a boutique Chicago law firm.

Karin has a particular expertise advising the crypto and/or tech-oriented entrepreneur and has been quoted extensively in local and national newspapers and magazines and featured on WSBT and WBBM’s evening news for her views regarding cryptocurrency, digital assets and estate planning.

She received a B.A. in Business, summa cum laude, from Mount St. Mary's University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and was published in the Virginia Tax Review. Karin resides in Chicago with her husband and three young children.
